Heller: Constitution 1 Evolving Public Sentiment 0

In D.C. v. Heller the Supreme Court strongly defended the individual right of a citizen to hold and bear an
unlocked and loaded weapon in their home.

ScotusBlog has an amazing round up here.

The affirmation of such an obvious constitutional and necessary right is heartening. But even more is the plane to which this decision pulls the Supreme Court as a body and as a branch to its proper role and function.

For example, the decision did not base itself upon "society’s standards of decency" however noble they might be, but upon a "normal and ordinary" meaning of the Constitution as understood by ordinary citizens in the founding generation.

As Scalia says:

In interpreting this text, we are
guided by the principle that “[t]he Constitution was written to be
understood by the voters; its words and phrases were used in their
normal and ordinary as distinguished from technical meaning.” United
States v. Sprague, 282 U. S. 716, 731 (1931); see also Gibbons v.
Ogden, 9 Wheat. 1, 188 (1824). Normal meaning may of course include an
idiomatic meaning, but it excludes secret or technical meanings that
would not have been known to ordinary citizens in the founding

As importantly Scalia rejects the temptation of the judicial branch to establish some sort of legislative test that Supreme Court judges love to invent. Instead, Scalia says that judges should leave that to the legislature and simply give some examples to guide future cases as to what is Constitutional and what is not.

Finally, Scalia does not incorporate the 2nd Amendment into the 14th Amendment to apply to the states. He doesn't say that it can't but simply says that this case does not bring up the issue so the issue does not need to be addressed. Again, refeashing understanding of the proper role of the court.

The Storm that saved Ecuador

I would say it was divine.

In 1999, abortion advocates devised
a new strategy to bring abortion to nations that protect women and
unborn children. After upsetting residents of Ireland, Poland and
Portugal, the Dutch-based abortion boat recently arrived in the South
American nation of Ecuador, where abortions are illegal.

pro-abortion group Women on Waves is behind the abortion boat and
the group said it received an invitation from local abortion advocates
to head across the Atlantic.

organization recently traded in its converted tugboat, or trawler,
for a high-end sailing vessel, but the group may be regretting its

its way to Ecuador, the Women on Waves ship, Harmony, ran aground
in a tropical storm.

incident occurred two week ago and WOW said it is "almost sure
it will not be able to arrive in Ecuador for the planned campaign."

group tried to put a good face on the predicament in a press release
and said its officials would spend their time in Ecuador promoting
the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug.

New Punctuation: The ~ invention for sarcasm

You know what it feels like when you wish to express something and there just isn't a word that will fit the need. Like trying to use a pliers on a screw you have the wrong tool for the job. Punctuation also has a similar problem. We have punctuation to express a question and an exclamation, but often are confused when sarcasm is intended. Numbers can't count the number of times people have been offended or needed an explanation when sarcasm was intended and instead taken seriously. Some try and do thinks like "::sarcasm on::" and then "::sarcasm off::almost as if they are embedding their feelings in their writing. It's as clumsy as it looks.

Here are a few punctuations that could be used for sarcasm: "~" or "::" As in, Obama, the best thing since sliced bread!~ Tacky? To begin with yes, but incredible longterm benefits in keystrokes and understanding I would think.

Ad Watch. and Anti-Americanism

First off, remember if we have it Obama's way for every two "Alexes" one other died in an abortion.

Second, nothing substantive about the war. Basic premise is that no Mom should ever have to or be proud that their son serves their country. "Hitler, I don't care what you do in the next 100 years, because I won't serve or let my children serve." What is this saying to all the Moms who's kids are over in Iraq right now?

Al-Qaeda could hardly have produced an ad so suited to the terrorist agenda.

Hillary Delegate Supports McCain instead of Obama

Democratic delegate Debra Baroshevich will support McCain instead of Obama this fall. She was a delegate to the Denver convention where she would have placed her vote for Hillary. Persuaded according to accounts from the Chicago Tribune and the Journal Sentinel by his sister who has served in Iraq she will only support McCain now in the general election.

Democratic pundits have been hoping that the divisive primary would not split the party. Seems like their worst nightmares might just come true.

As an avid supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primaries, Debra Bartoshevich is not alone in her frustration over Clinton's defeat. She’s not alone in refusing to support Barack Obama. And she’s not entirely alone in saying she’ll vote this fall for Republican John McCain instead. But what makes her unusual is that she holds these views as an elected delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver this summer.

Cute Hillary

The Hillary acting is amazing.

Follow good Obomination vibes right over the cliff

This Madison Wisconsin YouTube of young Obama supporters demonstrates why he and his supporters are so dangerous. Three girls are asked the simple question of why they support him and we find out the following:

1. He is inspirational.
2. His good "vibes" fix all the old bad political "vibes"
3. People are uniting behind him.

I think if you listen closely I heard something swallowed about the war or good leadership, but I think the truth shines the loudest when they talk the clearest.

Candidates should be strong and inspirational leaders but again this shows the lack of substance especially in Obama's supporters. They are like lemmings following a clowning leader...right over a cliff.

New Look, Same Content

I'm on a major mission to revamp Wild Wisconsin here with a new template as well as other minor updates. And yes, one of those updates will be increased activity. I appreciate your patience as the kinks get worked out.
